TECHNICAL INFO

The best place to find technical information when you have a specific ASTM number ex: ASTM A 513 is www.astm.org. Their website has all the information relating to the metal item. They have the range allowed for the chemistry, physical properties, and the tolerances for the physical size and more.

If you are interested in general information about specific common products in Stainless, Brass, Copper, Aluminum, and Steel go to www.metalreference.com . This site has been constructed with the architect in mind and has many excellent examples of color, use and availability of the products mentioned.

Ordering Information

When you call or e-mail an inquiry to us please give us as much information as possible. We need to know the name and description of the product, and the 3 dimensions: thickness, width and length. Any specification, like an ASTM number.
Is there anything critical that you need to have us pay close attention to, other than the specification, Ex: This item cannot be larger than the dimensions shown. Ex: The bundles MUST not exceed XXX lbs. Ex: The unloading hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Closed from noon to 1:00.?
When we cut material our standard tolerance is +-1/8”.

Formulas

The following formulas are for estimating purposes only and based on nominal thicknesses.
Steel weights are based on a weight of .2836 lbs. per cubic inch.
Aluminum weights are based on grade 1100 aluminum at .098 lbs. per cubic inch.
T= Thickness in inches
W= Width in inches
D= Diameter

Pounds per lineal ft. Steel round 2.6729 x D²
Pounds per lineal inch Steel Rounds .22274 x D²
Pounds per lineal ft. Aluminum Rounds .924 x D²

Pounds per lineal ft. Steel Flats 3.4032 x T x W / Steel Squares 3.4032 x D²
Pounds per lineal inch Steel Flats .2835 x T x W / Steel Squares .2836 x D²
Pounds per lineal ft. Aluminum 1.18 x T x W / Aluminum Squares 1.18 x D²
